Full Text
Life of Samuel Adams.-It is with pleasure that we announce that the life and writings of Adams, distinguished statesman, are about to be given to the public. Most of the men who were prominent in the American events which the Revolution produced have been subjects of the pen of the historian or the biographer, except Adams. No newspaper we believe has presented the article to the public that no attempt has been made to place his services and his claims to grateful remembrance, before his countrymen in such a way as they merit. We are therefore glad to perceive that his grandson, Samuel Adams Wells, has prepared, and proposes to publish, so desirable a work. It is more than twenty years since we knew that Mr. W. was engaged in preparing a biography of his maternal relation, and we have often wondered at the delay of its publication. The reasons for this are explained in the prospectus issued by the publishers to whom the work is now offered.
