The King being resolved to do something extraordinary towards clearing the Seas of Pirates, has demanded of the Pope the Bull of Crusade, in order to defray the great Expense he must be put to for this Purpose; and his Holiness taking into Consideration the Justice of the Motive, has made no Difficulty to grant that Bull, which empowers his Majesty to levy on the Clergy of his Dominions a Sum sufficient for the Service in question.
The Armament destined against the Barbary Corsairs will consist of several Frigates, Gallies, Xebecks, and Tartans.
The St. Anthony Xebeck, which was out upon a Cruise, fell in with a Tunisian Corsair, a few Days ago, and took him, after an obstinate Engagement, which lasted above four Hours. The Crew of the Corsair consisted of 87 Men, who were all made Prisoners, except 11, who escap'd in the Long Boat.
On the other Hand we hear, that the Barbary Corsairs have, within these few Days, taken two Tartans belonging to this Kingdom.
