Sale of U. S. Ships To British Urged

WASHINGTON, Aug. 6 (UP)—Sen. Claude Pepper, D., Fla., planned today to seek early action in the foreign relations committee on a resolution he said would authorize the sale of 50 over-age destroyers to Great Britain.

A second means of carrying out the suggestion of Gen. John J. Pershing was suggested by Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Key Pittman, D., Nev. He wanted to trade destroyers for British battleships.

Isolationist senators charged that Pershing's plan would constitute an act of war.
