According to some letters from France of the 29th past, the old Marshal Belleisle, the Marshal Prince de Soubise, & several members of the council, have made the strongest Instances to the King, to prevail with him to consent to a peace; and that, on the other hand, the Duke de Choiseuil and his party leave no stone unturned, to prevent a peace. Nevertheless, after a long and serious deliberation, a resolution was taken to send a courier to the Count de Choiseuil, the French Ambassador at Vienna, with orders to represent to the ministry, that the King is absolutely determined to put an end to the war, and to desire the Empress Queen to drop some of her pretensions, and nominate plenipotentiaries to assist at a congress.
