Under the new contract.
On the first of July coming, the carriage of the mails by the new contractors commences. The contract between Fayetteville and Raleigh, we are gratified to know, has been taken by a Fayetteville man, Mr. Murdoch McKinnon. This is the first time in the memory of the oldest inhabitant, that such has been the case. We hope Mr. McKinnon will realize a reasonable profit. He is a man of enterprise and industry, and is the more deserving of encouragement from having made all he has by his own efforts, commencing, as he did, a poor boy.
Mr. McKinnon will put good coaches on the line; he will reduce the fare to Raleigh from five to four dollars; and he will no doubt exert himself to make the staging comfortable and agreeable.
