A Great Future.
Great Falls, Mont., Feb. 8.--The contract for building a dam across the river at Black Eagle fall has just been closed. The engineer estimates that it will require 1,600,000 feet of lumber to construct it, but it will render available one of the largest water powers in the United States. The building of this dam is the preliminary step of the Boston and Montana company in the construction of its great smelting and refining plant, which will involve an expenditure of no less than $2,000,000. This company's mines at Butte are the largest in the world, the copper produced last year amounting to 24,000,000 pounds.
