How shall I express my gratitude to everybody for their unspeakable kindness to myself and the loved ones during my recent illness, and one of the most trying experiences of my life. There was a continuous stream of visiting friends to my bedside from the first hour of my injury till I was on my feet again. Every token of sympathy from all hearts were expressed in such ways as fill our hearts with everlasting friendship.

The sumptuous Thanksgiving dinner with everything that could satisfy the appetite, and make glad the heart seemed to be the high tide of friendship.

I shall regard it as a personal favor to myself for all my friends to become as solid friends of my successor, Rev. F. M. Tolleson and his splendid family. They are certainly lovely people. And I am sure you will all learn to love them.

For my brethren in the ministry of our sister churches, I herewith express my sincerest love and best wishes.

With love to all.

Sincerely,
W. T. THOMPSON.
REV. W. T. THOMPSON

LEAVES FOR NEW WORK

Rev. W. T. Thompson and

his family will leave Wednesday

morning for Blytheville,

where Mr. Thompson will assume his new pastorate of the

First Methodist church at that

place.

During the time Reverend

and Mrs. Thompson have lived

and worked among the people

of their church in this city

they have made many good and

substantial friends, who regret

to part with them. In every

avenue of the work, the pastor

and his family have been most

sincere, and where the sorrowing or the sick needed their assistance it was always given

with much love and enthusiasm,

and as they are now leaving for

their new work, the best wishes

of the people of this city and

the friends of other churches

will go with them.

While it is understood that

according to the doctrines of

the Methodist church there is a

certain limit to any pastor

with his congregation, yet there

is still a deep regret often that

these limits are reached, because of the close personal

friendships which arise during

the pastorate of many ministers in the work, and while

Mr. Thompson did not remain

the time limit in this church,

there were many close and

well founded friendships which

will be severed by his change to

another field. And the Batesville

Guard with many of its readers,

again extend to the good man and his well meaning

family the heartiest and best

wishes for a renewal, and to the friends who will take the place

of those they leave behind them

in this city.
