Semi-Official French Note Refutes Cuno's Charges
Germany Charged With Manipulating Mark to Avoid Payments

BERLIN, March 6.---Chancellor Cuno today convened a special session of the Reichstag to protest against the extension of the French zone of occupation in the Ruhr valley. Coincident with the opening of the meeting came the announcement that the French had occupied Hemschien, Kronenberg, Wipper and Fuerth, southeast of Dusseldorf. Speakers of all parties are prepared to deliver vigorous addresses of protest.
The special session of the Reichstag was called two days early Chancellor Cuno having summoned the members hurriedly when the French extended their occupation to include Darmstadt, Karlsruhe and Mannheim.
FRENCH NOTE DENIES

PARIS. March 6.-A semi-official French note refutes Chancellor Cuno's charges and protests regarding the extension of the occupied area. The note denied any idea of annexation. It pointed out that France has spent fifty four billion francs repairing the devastated area, while Germany's total reparations payments have been only six billion marks.
It was further charged that the Germans manipulated the mark so as to reduce its value.
