The Republican county convention will meet in this city one week from to-day. Among those who have announced themselves as candidates for the respective offices is Thomas Hughes for the office of County Treasurer. He is the only candidate now before the Republican party. We cheerfully say that Mr. Hughes will be a very acceptable candidate to the Republicans of Pima county. His long residence in the county, his upright career, personal integrity and his success as a business man, all add to his fitness for the position. His honesty is unquestioned. In fact, we know of no reason why he should not receive the nomination. One thing is certain, if Mr. Hughes is nominated he will be elected.
