INTERESTING, TO THE CITIZENS OF ALEXANDRIA.
Extract of a letter from a gentleman of respectability at Fauquier Court House, Va. to his friend in Alexandria, dated Sept. 16, 1809.
"We have got nearly 20,000 dollars subscribed for the Thornton Gap Turnpike: a meeting will be called immediately to appoint a President and Directors to proceed with the work; the law allows the company to raise the tolls to 10 per cent. and not to exceed fifteen per cent--under this particular privilege I hope the whole of the shares will be sold without difficulty, and ten miles of the road completed next year: we expect aid from Alexandria, as it will be much benefitted."
