NEW-HAVEN, Nov. 22.

It is rumour'd that a certain Gentleman, who has for a long Time fill'd an important Seat in one of the American Colonies, has lately taken an Oath diametrically opposite to one he was already under the obligation of, which oblig'd him to Assert, Defend, and Maintain, the Right and Privileges of the Colony, agreeable to the Charter of the same.--Query, Whether or not that Gentleman will not apply to the Holy Father at Rome, to be absolv'd from the obligation of his former Oath.
