Yesterday morning arrived at New-York, the ship Liberty, Capt. Chew, from Liverpool.—By this conveyance, and thro' the attention of our Correspondents at New-York, we have received Liverpool papers to the 3d, and London to the 1st, October ; copious extracts from which appear in the GAZETTE of this evening.
By these advices, it appears, that the misunderstanding between Prussia and France, had become so far exasperated as to induce the Emperor to leave Paris, to head his armies, which are all converging to one point There is nothing of an authentic shape to warrant the expectation that either Russia or Austria would be involved in the conflict; although there are many circumstances of preparation and policy, which render such a coalition highly probable. Otherwise the world may shortly be called upon to witness the humiliation of the court of Berlin. But on the higher interests of the other powers of Europe, such a catastrophe would not excite much commiseration, as it was owing either to her duplicity or her pusillanimity, that the other powers of Europe, in the late war, were overthrown and degraded by Bonaparte.
The reasons for Lord Lauderdale's remaining at Paris, subsequent to these stormy indications, are inscrutable. Nothing had transpired to lead to an idea when he might be expected to return; or what progress had been made in the negotiation.
