Elbert Anderson had the W. D. Vaughan Liberty car out for a ride Friday afternoon and was at the Crisman corner two miles east of town going east. With him were Mrs. W. D. Vaughan, Mrs. Tom Veatch and daughter Miss Ida, his wife and the baby girl of Frank White.

Skeeter Jackson, heretofore considered a careful and trustworthy negro boy at the wheel of any car, was returning from a trip in his own car and coming west around the same corner. He had his eyes elsewhere than on the road and was crowding the wrong side of the road at the turn. Mr. Anderson turned his car as far into the fence as he dared but still it was not far enough to prevent Skeeter bumping into his car. In fact, according to the statement of those in the Vaughan car, when Skeeter became conscious of the situation he lost his head and turned his car towards the Vaughan car and the result was not so disastrous as it would have been had not Anderson practically stopped his car before the collision.

As it was the occupants of the rear seat of the Vaughan car were considerably shaken up, their knees being jammed against the forward seat by the shock but Mrs. Anderson suffered a cut lip and the child a bump on her head.

The cars were both damaged but the Vaughan car suffered much the most as is ever the case in a collision between a good car and a Ford. The damage to the Vaughan car may reach $500.
