Leader of Socialist Party, to Appear In Bottineau in June, if Present Plans Materialize
State His Eugene V. Debs, leader of the socialist party three times its candidate for president of the United States, will likely appear in Bottineau for a big open air meeting during the month of June.
When it was learned that it was possible to get this national figure here for a speaking date a number of local people immediately became active in raising sufficient funds to secure this meeting. A number of socialist locals in different parts of the county, have already pledged themselves for a considerable guarantee and the proposition is meeting with such general favor locally that there is little doubt but the meeting can be secured.
It is generally conceded that the coming of Debs to Bottineau would prove one of the biggest drawing cards the city has ever had in the way of an attraction and with good roads and favorable weather thousands of visitors from this section of the state would come here to see and listen to this national character.
In order to accommodate the crowds it is proposed to hold the big meeting at the county fair grounds.
