ANOTHER FAILURE.—A second attempt has been made to rally the people of Murray county to a meeting to appoint delegates to the Nashville Convention. The result was the people were not there. A few persons however were in attendance and an attempt made to adopt a resolution to appoint two delegates, which failed, and the meeting stands adjourned over until the first Monday in May—when it will perhaps meet, and then perhaps adjourn again. Several speeches were made on the occasion, one by Barclay Martin, a prominent Democrat of Middle Tennessee, in which he said he was thoroughly opposed to the Convention. He saw no necessity for it, and pronounced a most eloquent eulogy upon the Union. The time for any such movement as this Nashville Convention had not come, and he hoped and believed never would come. If good should come from the Convention, others were welcome to the honor. If evil, he wished it understood that he was not in any manner responsible for it.

So of the other speakers, with one exception they expressed themselves in terms of opposition to the Convention.
