Full Text

So many go into the chicken-raising and egg business only to make a failure of it that it is interesting to read of the success of 16-year-old Philip Dimick of Andover, Mass., who started last year with 13 hens, increasing his flock to 100 and making these birds earn him a profit this year of $457 in seven months. This profit was figured after deducting cost of feed, supplies and miscellaneous charges, including 20 cents an hour for his own labor. The 13 original hens were not scrubs, however, but full-blooded birds of a strain noted for their egg producing qualities.
