On Tuesday last the Warren Baptist Association held their anniversary meeting in this town.—The Rev. Mr. Cano, of Providence, preached the introductory sermon, on the occasion.
On Wednesday forenoon the business of the Association was transacted, and in the afternoon the Rev. Joseph Bentley, of Boston, was ordained as an evangelist minister. Introductory prayer by the Rev. Mr. Collier, of Charlestown; sermon by the Rev. Mr. Grafton, of Newton, from 2 Cor. x. 4.— "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God. to the pulling down of strong holds." Ordaining prayer by the Rev. Mr. Blood, of Vermont; charge by Rev. Dr. Baldwin, of Boston; right hand of fellowship by Rev. Mr. Bachelder. of Haverhill; and. the concluding prayer by Rev. Mr. Peak, of Newburyport. A great number of strangers attended the meeting; and good fellowship and generous hospitality increased the pleasure of those who were interested in the solemnities. The next anniversary will be kept at Newtown; and the Rev: Mr. Clay, of Bos-ton, is appointed to preach the introductory sermon.
