Over one thousand songs were written in the all too brief lifetime of the composer of "Till We Meet Again", among them "Japanese Sandman". "Beyond The Blue Horizon". "Eadie Was A Lady". "Louise". etc.. etc.

Born in Peoria. Ill. of parents who were musically inclined. he took to teaching himself by the time he could pull over a piano stool and reach the keys.

He "prepped" for college in Harvard Military School in Los Angeles. tried to go into show business with Mickey Nellan failed. and went back to Peoria where he took to writing songs.

His work attracted the attention of publisher Jerome H. Remick. who invited the young composer to join his staff.

When Hollywood called for the nation's leading composers, he was one of the first to go.

It was in Hollywood that he passed away suddenly this year His membership in the American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers. now transferred to his estate, continues to protect his rights for the benefit of his family
