Quiet.—Since the election matters in town have gradually assumed a quieter aspect. The folks seem to have exhausted themselves on election day, while the suspense of the prolonged count seems to have acted as a sedative. A good deal of money has been ventured on the different candidates, and those that have lost are not inclined to be jocose, and the winners have probably not received their money; so their time for laughing has not arrived. On the Democratic side of the house rejoicing is by no means in order, and the Repubs. have so much good fortune to make merry over that they have not had time to realize it.
