Full Text

A Washington letter writer says the Ohio democracy is like the sick man, whom nothing but a desperate operation can save. Accordingly it has resolved in State Convention, that while impelled by a stern conviction of duty to run its head against the Nebraska bill, last fall, it has now adopted the extremest platform of abolitionism. Such is the tenor of its resolutions. They have been adopted in order to set the party on its legs again, and as soon as that is done, they will of course, be duly repudiated, according to the distich:
When the devil was sick the devil a saint would be;
When the devil got well the devil a saint was he.
