Letters from the vicinity of Pensacola received from an officer of the U. States army, to another in this town, mention that the Spanish Commander of that station is erecting new works near the Barrancas with great zeal; that every man in the garrison is employed on fatigue duty, the Governor himself setting the example; but that whilst every exertion is making to put the city in the highest state of defence; the Spanish authorities behave with the utmost respect to every American who visits the place.
