Dr. B. Frank Smith, pastor of the Baptist Church, has accepted the assignment as chairman of the Holmes County Speakers Bureau for the Office of Civilian Defense. He will endeavor to make available to the public all the information which OCD issues with regard to rationing, conservation, transportation, volunteer services, and other matters of interest to civilians and connected with the War effort.
The Librarian at the Durant Public Library has reserved space for all booklets and other literature on these subjects and will be glad to assist in their use by all interested parties. Secretaries of all clubs and other organizations are asked to see that these vital matters are called to the attention of the groups they serve, that the widest possible publicity be given.
The County Chairman is assisted in this work by Community Chairmen as follows:
Lexington: Rev. J. R. Smith, Presbyterian pastor.
Goodman: Rev. Madison Powers, Baptist pastor.
Pickens: Mr. W. S. Owen, merchant.
West: To be announced
