Drivers' License Increase Approved

The House of Representatives Monday voted to increase the state highway patrol from 120 to 200, and to increase the cost of drivers' licenses to $1 per year instead of 50 cents, as at present.

The increase in drivers' license becomes effective at the expiration of the present licenses next June. The present licenses were issued on a two-year basis.

Payment of $560,000 per year as cost of the patrol system, as compared to the present appropriation of $350,000 a year was also set up in the bill.
