They show two important facts. In the first place they satisfactorily prove that the charges made against the Administration have not produced that effect on the public mind which those who made them, relying on the imaginary influence of their own talents and perseverance, had hoped and anticipated. They prove that the boasted evidence talked about by Mr. M'Duffie, as being as conclusive on the charge of corruption, as is required in a Court of justice to insure a capital conviction, has produced precisely an opposite verdict before the tribunal of public opinion, and led to acquittal, instead of condemnation. In the second place, they have exposed to the people the fallacies which the Opposition editors are in the practice of circulating as to the real course of public opinion; and the incorrectness of the calculations with which they favor their readers. No doubt they had persuaded those who believe in their predictions, that in all the three instances which we have given, the results would be as splendid in favor of General Jackson, as they have proved to be in favor of Mr. Adams and his Administration. Will those who have been thus deluded, be persuaded again to pin their faith on the sleeves of such prophets?
