Freight Hearing Delay Protested

AUSTIN, Sept. 6-(UP)--A letter of protest against delay in the Interstate Commerce Commission's investigation of alleged freight rate discriminations against the southwest was in the mail today from Texas Railroad Commissioners Jerry Sadler and Olin Culberson, addressed to Interstate Commerce Commission Chairman J. B. Eastman.

Similar letters will be sent to each member of the Interstate Commerce Commission.

Sadler said that railroads joined by officials and favored states have sought a delay during the national emergency.

"Against that wholly specious and untenable position the Texas Railroad Commission desires to be heard," the letter advised Eastman. Our position is that regardless of the times, whether they be normal or abnormal, the essential functions of democracy must go on, and the people's interests be zealously protected and safeguarded at all times."
