Carl Goerch, publisher of The State Magazine, was served with summons from Halifax County in a $5,000 libel suit. The plaintiff, Miss Elizabeth M. Harrell, alleged that an article appearing in The State about her was false and defamatory and subjected her to ridicule. The article in question appeared about a year ago. It humorously described the dogs which said Miss Harrell owned.
