Event Details
Early this morning it blew a severe hurricane at S. S. E. when all the tiers of ships from Union stairs to London bridge drove from their anchors, and the chief part of them went on shore between the tower and the bridge: several loaded lighters and boats are sunk, and many craft drove through bridge. Several ships lost their masts, others their boltsprits; several boats full of men were jammed between the ships and sunk. A ship from Dartmouth was stove to pieces against the starling of the bridge, and a sloop lies up the starlings.
