Goes Into Final
Three Days
The 1961 North Florida Fair boomed into the "homestretch" today with more than a dozen major events still scheduled for the final three days.
The Fair ends Saturday night.
On the agenda for today are a big Brahman Beef Cattle Show which annually attracts top breeders from all over the Southeast, the Angus Cattle Show, and phase two of the huge North Florida Fair Flower Show.
Today is also the date for the regular Carcass show, held each year at Quincy with carcasses taken from the huge Open Swine Show held on Wednesday, and the Open Barrow show held opening day.
Today is also Negro Day, when negro students are given special free entrance to the grounds, and special prices on rides and at the concession stands until 6 p.m.
Friday is a day of real importance to surrounding counties in the Big Bend. Outstanding Farm Families from all seventeen area counties are honored on Friday, with a 7 p.m. Banquet at which they are presented plaques and certificates of merit.
Saturday is the wind-up day, and the Future Farmers of America and 4-H Club of Florida hold their statewide competition on corn, crops judging, and livestock on that day.
Activity on the big Gooding Amusement Company Midway has drawn thousands of Tallahassee and area adults and children to the fair during the first two days of its annual run.
Fair Secretary-Manager Lloyd Rhoden said fair weather will almost assure a new attendance record for the five-day show which last year drew more than 80,000 people.
