Philadelphia, Oct. 3.-In the case of Bishop Dubs, the committee to whom the matter was referred made a report to the general conference of the German Evangelical alliance stating that there were charges preferred against Dubs in February, 1890; that at the trial Dubs withdrew because the conference refused to allow him to employ stenographers at his own expense; the aforesaid trial, had at Cleveland, after a one-sided investigation, declared Dubs guilty and suspended him; that in order that the general conference may consider the matter intelligently, the committee recommends that Dubs bring the case before the general conference, where a thorough investigation can be had and the bishop put in a proper light before the church and the world.
The general conference then went into executive session for the purpose of taking up Bishop Esher's case.
