SHERIFF'S SALES.—Senator Cassidy of Lander county, is deserving of the commendation and gratitude of the entire press of Nevada for his timely action in having introduced into the body of which he is a member a bill providing for amending the present Practice Act with regard to the manner of publishing notices of sale under execution. As now provided, if an order of sale were made upon the most desirable piece of property in the State, it would be possible for designing creditors or others to confiscate the same to their own behoof privately and surreptitiously; for the law at present provides that such sales need only be published by the aid of a sheet of foolscap, and a spoonful of mucilage and the obscure door post of a secluded and alkalied court-house. Let Senator Cassidy's bill speedily become a law and the system of judicature of Nevada be relieved of the odium which is cast upon it by the parsimony of its statute relating to forced sales. Speak up with renewed emphasis, fellow journalists of the sage-brush, and an effective backing will doubtless come to the assistance of this much needed measure.—Appeal.
