Memorial Day Committees Selected To Direct Services

Chairmen and committee members in charge of the annual city-wide Memorial Day services were announced this week by Everett W. Quintrell, publicity director.

A parade beginning at 1:30 p.m. at Memorial hall and proceeding to Riverview park will highlight the observance.

Ray Watkins, general chairman, will be assisted in over-all arrangements by William A. Selz, Mrs. Mary Brush and Leo C. Brown. Neil Stire will serve as honorary chairman.

Other volunteer workers will include Mrs. Laverna Watkins and Mrs. Joanna Schuler, Memorial Sunday committee; Lucius Cook, Orie S. Carter and R. R. Day, flags and markers; Mr. and Mrs. Ohmer H. McClain, Delbert D. Cooper, Peter Watts, Jr., John Duffy and E. L. Powell, parade and decorations.

Bruce Urquhart and Clarence Cramer, flowers; Charles Clingman and Andy Kaiser, music; Leo Brown, R. R. Motter and Lee Sheffield, transportation; Mrs. Laura Prevo, vice chairman of publicity, and Selz, program committee chairman.

Ed Mason and Vern E. Dexter will handle the AMVETS service and Al Kolleda will direct an observance at the North Dayton War memorial.

Other services will be directed by the following:

Willowview - Edward Clark, chairman, and George L. Cutton, Mrs. Pearl Sortman, Mrs. Ruth Owens and Russell D. Beadle.

Veterans Memorial Park - Ray Watkins, chairman, and Mrs. Irma Girvin, John A. Crone, Walter Majusick and Emmons Crawford.

Shiloh - Neil Stire, chairman, and Mrs. Olive Harmon, Mrs. Mattie Christine, Mrs. Emerson Landis and Joseph Bartels.

Victory Oak Knoll - William Holmes, chairman, and Horace L. Stephens.

Woodland - Kenneth J. Selz, chairman, and Mrs. Myrtle Dakin, Mrs. Mary Brush, John Evans and Mrs. Carroll Crawford.

Calvary - Linus Wildenhouse, chairman, and Mrs. Edward Sherlock, Leo O. Wangler, Mrs. L. E. Custer, Mrs. Helen Barnes and Paul Loser.

Greencastle - Julius Alexander, chairman, and A. Booker, Charlotte Senior and Bertha Wallace.

Memorial Park -- Mrs. Luella Knox, chairman, and Mrs. Mary Maher, Grover T. Day, Mrs. Cora Zellers, Mrs. June Mock and Mrs. Strohaker.
