Full Text

The Examiner and Dispatch agree now that the Democracy will do nothing for Mr. Johnson. A five minutes' talk with Conservative Congressmen three weeks ago convinced us of that fact, and yet he is the last man in the breach.—Petersburg Index.

The Dispatch has never held any other opinion. Why does the Index say 'now?'

Richmond Dispatch.

Because three weeks ago, when the Dispatch agreed with us, the Examiner had announced no such belief. 'Now' the Examiner and the Dispatch agree, or 'now' the Examiner agrees with the Dispatch, &c. We will try to make our expressions more precise hereafter.—Petersburg Index.
