The Nathan Hale Statue.

The Sons of the Revolution of Connecticut were represented at the unveiling of the Nathan Hale statue in New York Saturday by Jonathan Trumbull of Norwich. The statue stands in the City Hall park on the spot as near as can be ascertained where the hero was executed. Saturday was also the 110th anniversary of the Evacuation day.

The celebration was a fine one.

The celebrations began at 10 o'clock with the unveiling of the five memorial tablets placed by the Sons of the Revolution at 1 Broadway, at the corner of West and Laight street, at the corner of John and William streets, at Broadway near Forty-third street and at One Hundred and Fifty-third street and Eleventh avenue.

The order of exercises at the statue commenced with a prayer by Rev. Dr. Morgan Dix, general chaplain of the Society of the Sons of the Revolution. The statue was presented to the society by William Gaston Hamilton, chairman of the committee, and its unveiling by Miss Cornelia Montgomery, daughter of James Mortimer Montgomery, secretary of the society, was followed by a salute of thirteen guns fired by Light Battery K, First United States artillery, under Captain J. W. Dillenback. President Tallmadge of the society accepted the statue and at once presented it afresh to the city of New York, Mayor Gilroy making the speech of acceptance.

Addresses were made by General O. O. Howard and Rev. Dr. Edward Everett Hale, the distinguished author, who is a grand nephew of Nathan Hale. The bands of the Seventh regiment and the First United States artillery then played the national airs in front of the statue.

Fraunces Tavern, as well as the sub treasury building, the soldiers' monument in Trinity church yard, and the General Montgomery memorial in St. Paul's church yard are appropriately decorated.
