SOMETHING NEW

Officials of the Chicago & Northwestern railway had a real surprise some time ago following a little wreck over in Michigan. There had been a collision of a freight train with a horse and wagon, loaded with wood. The horse was killed, wagon wrecked and wood strewn along the track. The owner sent a letter to the railway stating it was no fault of theirs and asked for a bill to cover delaying of the train or any other damages done to the railroad. The incident holds no parallel in the operating history of the Chicago & Northwestern railway and perhaps in the railway history of the country. It is strange how it can nearly always be figured out that the railroad is to blame.
