FOR THE LITCHFIELD ENQUIRER.
SEVENTEENTH DISTRICT.

It is hoped that the Electors of District No. 17 will not be unmindful of the importance of the approaching Election. On the one hand, a gentleman is presented to them for their suffrages who has long served them in various public stations, and whose claims to their confidence are too well established to need to be enforced. It is enough to say that he is ardently attached to those great and leading principles of policy which have ever been cherished in New-England, and which form the solid foundation on which her prosperity is based.—On the other hand, a gentleman is put forward by the leaders of the Jackson party, who has never been distinguished by any of those capabilities which fit a man for Senator, and who would scarcely have been known beyond the limits of his own town, had it not been for his meddling interference in conjunction with Perry Smith and others, to recommend to the Post-Master General a candidate for Post-Master in Goshen who was very unacceptable to the good people of that town. If the Electors of the District wish to be represented by a Senator who will do them honor and who is devoted to their interests, they will vote for Augustus Pettibone. If, on the other hand, they wish to become "hewers of wood and drawers of water" to Jackson demagogues, they will vote for Nathaniel P. Perry.
