Full Text
We have waited with the utmost patience for some responsible Loco Foco to deny that Gen. Butler is a Provisoist and Emancipationist, but have yet obtained no answer. Fillmore has written three letters giving his opinions, but not one word have we yet from Butler. He voted with Fillmore on the Creole resolutions, and were we as reckless of the truth as our opponents, we could charge Gen. Butler with being an abolitionist, and bring better proof to support that charge than they have brought or can bring against Fillmore. But we will not do this—we will only say that on the testimony of Northern Cass papers, not denied by any Southern Cass paper, Gen. Butler is a Wilmot provisoist and in favor of emancipation in Kentucky.
