On Monday evening, the 20th September, a Mr. Tarbucks was barbarously killed in the streets of Prescot, U. C. by a Mr. Hamilton. Tarbucks was a chair maker, and had imported half a dozen of chairs from the states, which he went and reported at Mr. Hamilton's, who is a custom-house officer.--Hamilton, when he heard of it, went to Tarbucks's, who was absent, and, seizing the chairs, took them forcibly away from his wife. Tarbucks on his return went to Hamilton's to remonstrate; and some high words ensued. Tarbucks then left him, but Hamilton followed him in the dark down the street with a large crooked knife, such as saddlers use, (which is Hamilton's trade,) and cut at him with the knife between the neck and shoulders, with so sure an aim, penetrating through the main blood vessels, that the victim of his passion died on the spot in about three minutes. The murderer was immediately taken into custody.
