April 21. The latest Advices from Constantinople and the Levant Seas say that the Russian Fleet was lying off the Island of Cos, and was making every necessary Preparation to force the Passage of the Dardanelles early in the Summer; and that the Porte, apprized of this, as well as of the Armaments fitting out on the Black Sea, had ordered additional Defences to be raised to strengthen the former, and had caused a Chain of Forts to be built in Order to prevent the Approaches of the Enemy by the Way of the latter.
