Full Text
Hubbard Winslow is supposed to be the author of the heathenish article in this week's 'Refuge of Oppression,' on 'Slavery in the time of Christ and his Apostles.' He would have us believe that Christianity does not sanction any direct attack upon moral evils, with a view to remove them. Query—If the Rev. apologist for slavery and lynch-law believes his own doctrine, why does he make a direct attack upon abolitionism? Cannot one evil be killed by a round-about process as well as another? It is as cruel, however, in moral as in physical quackery, to make a man swallow his own prescriptions.
