Full Text
We rejoice in communicating to our Fellow-Citizens, the happy issue of the election. The House and Senate are decidedly republican. The Hon. John Langdon, was appointed Speaker of the House, and Nicholas Gilman, Esq. President of the Senate. It is true the Feds have got a Governor, but republicans have limited his power and set bounds to the ambition of an usurping faction. It is more than probable that this State will approve of the amendment of the Constitution, and that one more effort will completely secure the full triumph of reason over blindness and folly.
New H. Gaz.
It seems the Republicans of New-Hampshire lost their Governor by default. The votes in several towns were not legally returned, therefore were not counted. The New-Hampshire Gazette states, that had all the votes been duly returned there would not have been any choice by the people. The votes given for Langdon, and the scattering votes, amounted to eleven more than the number given for Gilman.
