The impossibility of having our reinforcement of troops for America there in due time for the ensuing campaign, as first suggested in the papers, is now unanswerably confirmed by Sir John Wright, who yesterday declared in the House of Commons, that we should not be able to land a man in America before the month of August next; but it is of a piece with every other part of the conduct of our Ministers, who, to their consistency be it spoken, have never yet felt themselves bold enough for any undertaking, before it has been too late for it to have even a chance of taking any good effect.
When the present Ministry have luckily met with any little stroke of good fortune, the sluices of Ministerial exultation have been instantly opened, and a tide of anticipated victory vauntingly held forth to the expectation of the publick. But where, alas! is it that it has been fulfilled? Where are the fifty thousand Russians that have been so long impatient to embark in our depending cause? Where are their eighteen ships of the line that have so long been manned for our use? These auxiliaries would do us no harm at present. But rather let us ask where the publick resentment is, that it does not burst on the unfeeling author's of a people's ruin!
