LANCASTER, (Penr.) June 10.

Extract of a letter from an officer in the Federal Army, to a gentleman in this town.

"The Indians are here trading continually; numbers have settled at Forts Wayne and Defiance—A chieftain, called Rusherville, has settled about three miles from the former garrison up the St. Joseph's with about 60 families—Blue Jacket has set down near Fort Defiance, with the principal part of the Shawanese and Delawares.

It is generally believed here that we shall have a permanent Peace the ensuing fall."
