Full Text

The Agriculturists of England continue their meetings and loud complaints of excessive distress—and are determined to make new and powerful efforts in the next Parliament to obtain some measure favorable to their interest. Under such exertions there seems little chance of an amelioration of the Corn Laws; although the farmers seem now to complain principally of the load of taxes imposed on them. It appears hardly possible they can be much relieved as to their taxes, as the expenses of Government require all the present revenue.—[Ibid.
