WEEK OBSERVED
National Education Week was
observed throughout the Nation
the week of November 8-14.
The observance of National
Education Week, which always
falls on the week including Armistice
Day, was first promoted by
the American Legion. The main
purpose of this is to acquaint the
parents with the school program
and system. To make this contact
more effective an extensive pro-
gram is planned for each day of
the week with emphasis on some
phase of education.
The theme for this year
was
built around the subject, Education
for Free Men.
This was subdivided into the fol-
lowing subjects:
Renewing Our Faith
Serving War Time Needs
Building Strong Bodies
Developing Loyal Citizens
Cultivating Knowledge and
Skills
Establishing Sturdy Character
Strengthening Morale for
Victory
National Education Week was
observed by the Poplar School by
window displays in the business
establishments. These showed
work being done in the defense
school in welding, in the aeronautics
class, in vocational guidance,
and in the sale of stamps and
bonds. These displays were ar-
ranged by the students of the
high school.
