Full Text

Extract of a Letter from Exeter, July 23.

"The reception the D----- of Bi----- met here exceeded every thing of the kind ever known. The people being apprehensive his G-----'s business here was to procure an Address from the Grand Jury, &c. they would not suffer him to go along the street to the Guildhall without his first giving them satisfaction upon that matter. A gentleman was deputed to ask his G----- the question personally, and not to receive an answer from any body but himself; which he gave, amidst the great concourse of people, declaring that he did not know of the Assizes, nor had any such intention. But this did not fully satisfy the populace who followed him to every place in the city both public and private, declaring their utter disapprobation of sending up lies to the T----. The cry was, a Petition to redress, and not Addresses to add to our present Grievances.---- His G--re- Sat out this morning for the Southams."
