SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 19.-(AP)-
The Chinese Communists today proclaimed another big victory in China's civil war, the capture of Manchuria's capital, Changchun.
A military spokesman in Nanking immediately challenged the report and said fighting still is in progress.
The Communist radio in North China said the city fell when the U. S.-equipped Seventh Army grounded arms.
The Nanking spokesman said the Seventh, led by Gen. Li Hung, was still fighting but conceded that a part of the 60th Army in Changchun had surrendered. Li is a veteran of the Burma campaign.
The Communist advance in Manchuria lays all North China open to assault unless the Government acts quickly to restore the situation in southern Manchuria.
