A bill was introduced in the House, appropriating $50,000 to the City of Pittsburgh and suspending the payment of taxes and license in that city, It passed the second reading without any opposition, and was sent to the Senate for concurrence.
Large contributions are being made through out the country, for the relief of the sufferers, by that almost unparalleled calamity. The loss of property is variously estimated, but is thought on more mature deliberation that it will fall short of the first accounts given.
