The last papers from England are totally silent in regard to what was previously asserted, that an arrangement had been concluded at Seville, which would immediately terminate the war in Spain. On the contrary, they now assure us that large reinforcements to the invading army were on the march from France. By the French accounts, it would appear that but little opposition was experienced from the people of Spain—why then, are these reinforcements demanded?
The Paris Constitutionnel has the following sarcastick paragraph on this point:
"If we are to believe the Journal des Debats, it is not the army commanded in person by the Duke d'Angouleme which stands in need of reinforcements, since, according to its intelligence, all goes on well at Madrid, and Toledo has already sent in its submission. It is true that the fortresses of Santona, St. Andero, St. Sebastian, and Pampeluna, which are to the rear of this army, have not yet opened their gates; but, on the other hand, Marshal Moncey is not so quick in his movements as the Prince General in Chief, and it seems that the aid of a corps de reserve will not be useless to our army of Catalonia. It is probable that uncertainty will soon be at an end, and that we shall learn by the approaching departure of the Marshal de Lauriston on what points this new corps de reserve will march, of which he is about to take the command."
Some of the Paris papers consider the force which has marched from Madrid or Seville, as not strong enough to penetrate to that place. They ask, "what is to prevent Ballasteros from marching upon Jen, or if he chooses, upon Andujar, upon Baylen, or even upon Caroline, and the terrible defiles of the Sierra Morena? As to Zayas, who has succeeded Alisbal, he may proceed by Arzobispo, or Guadelape, direct upon Cordova, or through Arroba and Torrenova, where he will be on the Seville road, at the entrance of the Sierra Morena. The concentric movement of Zayas will perhaps bring about that of General Bourmont, who is marching upon Badajos, whilst General Bourdeault marches upon Seville."
The private accounts received in London state, that Andalusia will produce a body of 30,000 voluntary defenders of the Constitution, and it will be fortunate if the news of the march of the French army on Seville be confirmed by the next advices, for the more they extend themselves, the more certain will be their destruction.

Event Details
English papers silent on prior Seville arrangement to end war; instead report French reinforcements marching to invading army in Spain. French accounts show little opposition, yet Paris Constitutionnel sarcastically notes need for reserves due to unopened fortresses and slower Marshal Moncey. Paris papers doubt force from Madrid/Seville sufficient; suggest Spanish movements by Ballasteros and Zayas could counter. Private London accounts predict 30,000 constitutional defenders in Andalusia.
