Full Text

J. D. Stuart.—The name of this gentleman is presented to the people as a candidate this morning for the office of District Attorney. With pleasure, we add our encomium to the merited compliment bestowed upon him, by our confrere in Church street, yesterday. Mr. Stuart is indeed one who may be commended to young men as an example worthy of imitation. Born in the Parish—every chapter in his life, is open to inspection: going to show what temperate habits industry and perseverance may accomplish. What he is, he owes to no one but himself. Though still a student, Mr. Stuart has a classical education—and as an Orator, has few equals, and no superiors—his age and experience considered. Mr. Stuart has been nominated by a District convention of democrats; and his opponent is Mr. David N. Barrow, of West Baton Rouge, a gentleman also fully qualified by education and legal attainments for the trust. The public will not suffer in their Attorneyship by the choice of either of the gentlemen presented to them.
