MADRID, August 25.

We have advice from Monte Video, that in the month of April last the Portuguese came to attack that place with a squadron of five ships and some land forces; but that our Governor repulsed them, and sunk one of their ships. On occasion of this act of hostility, they have raised at Buenos Ayres 11,000 troops, which are incorporated with 1000 veterans, and part of them will be employed in the defence of that colony, whilst the rest go to attack the Portuguese in that of St. Sacrament.
